'Schitt's Creek' Star Dan Levy Criticizes Indian TV For Removing Gay Kiss

Dan Levy criticized an Indian TV channel for removing a scene from his hit show "Schitt's Creek" that includes a same-sex kiss between two men, CNN reports.

Levy co-created, executive produced and starred with his father, Eugene, in the Canadian comedy about a wealthy, privileged family that goes broke and is forced to move to a town – the show's namesake – the patriarch (Eugene Levy) once bought as a joke.

As CNN notes, sexuality and scenes with nudity will often be edited out of Western TV shows. Intriguingly, two other scenes in the show remained in the final edit – scenes including a same-sex kiss between women, and a kiss between a man and a woman. Attitudes toward homosexuality in the country remain conservative. Only a few years ago, in 2018, did India decriminalize gay sex.
