Washington DC International Food & Wine Festival

Learn all about passionate pairings with your partner while celebrating the overturn of DOMA during the 15th annual Washington DC International Food & Wine Festival February 13 - 16. This celebration of wine and food takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue and offers a full marketplace open to the public as well as multiple master classes and entry-level tasting and food pairing courses.

According to event producers, "the Main Event on Friday, February 14th, 2014 is designed to augment your Valentine's Day evening with your special someone. It's a capital affair featuring three areas of food, wine, beers, cocktails, and entertainment, the evening promises love in the air."

Boston Wine School

Give your lover four weeks of Italian wine and dine with "Veni Vidi Vino: Wine Tasting Tour of Italy" at the Boston Wine School. The first class starts Wednesday February 12th and goes from an introductory class that week to tours of Piedmont, Puglia, Chianti and more.

The wines will be food pairing-focused showing off their chemistry with Italian cheeses, olives and olive oils while you and your partner's chemistry boils too. That's amore!

Wine with Kristen

If you're interested in an intimate yet educational evening at your home, sommelier and wine writer Kristen Siebecker offers classes and private tastings. Her recreational wine tastings focus on fun and make wine approachable for even the beginner.

Customized tastings for two are geared toward you. Love bubbles? How about an all Champagne and sparkling wine class? Siebecker can also include a variety of wine themes such as varietal specific (such as all Cabernet Sauvignons), wines from all one country or region (like all Australian wines) or even a global perspective. Tastings include serviceware, four to five wine selections, four accompanying cheeses, crackers, tasting sheets and wine maps to follow along.

Available in Manhattan starting at $300 for up to six people, additional travel fees apply outside of New York City or for additional services such as food pairings.
