Twerking Was Too Much: Traumatized VMA Viewers Take It to the FCC

Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Miley Cyrus is still making headlines for her 2013 MTV Video Music Award performance when the 20-year-old former Disney TV star executed the "twerk felt 'round the world" on 36-year-old Robin Thicke.

The Smoking Gun released 150 complaints VMA viewers sent to the Federal Communications Commission, upset over Cyrus' performance. Most took issue with the singer's twerking, her foam finger, sticking out her tongue and her skimpy outfit. According to documents obtained by the Smoking Gun via a Freedom of Information Act request, some disgruntled viewers urged the government to fine or penalize Cyrus, Thicke and MTV for the performance, which aired on Aug. 25.

Officials from the FCC, however, can only penalize broadcast television networks, like CBS, NBC and ABC, for inappropriate content. As a cable network, MTV is not subject to the same FCC fines.

The Smoking Gun published some of the virulent complaints against Cyrus and Thicke. Check out some of the highlights out below:

Cyrus accused of "licking the butt of a stuff bear."

"Humped him like a bitch in heat."

Cyrus "touched the genitals of an older man while performing music."

"GOD HELP THIS NATION."

Cyrus was "acting like a devil flicking that tongue as deamons do."

Cyrus engaged in "implied sexual acts with bears."

"I suggest 12 months in a covent!"

Cyrus's grinding caused Thicke "to have a slight erection which can be easily noticed through his pants."

"The scars on our childrens minds cannot be easily erased."

Cyrus dressed like a "whore" and "put her face in a fake butt."

Cyrus "groped a woman's posterior-without hesitation."

Singer was guilty of "indicating oral sex, dog sex, etc."

"I was subjugated to 4 minutes of Miley Cyrus."

Can you imagine what they have to say about Cyrus' music video for "Wrecking Ball"?
