The Nashville-based, queer alternative rock artist Kristen Ford will release a new EP next month titled "No Plans." The first single, "Crooked Youth," is currently available for purchase and streaming on digital platforms.

For the EP — which features an almost all-female roster of musicians including Piper Payne, Ellen Angelico and Briget Boyle — Ford was inspired by the Bruce Springsteen's classic album "Nebraska," a masterwork of raw austerity. Ford explains:

"No Plans is the idea that you can just relax a bit as all your plans dissolve and let life unfold. It will be alright after all. Much of this record unfolded effortlessly, at the right place and the right time. I hope this music can be a light for you as well, at least until life can resume again as normal, with tours and hugs and people gathered at venues, festivals and even some of my favorite dive bars."

Prior to the pandemic, the multi-instrumentalist had performed over 100 shows per year for fans internationally. Whether performing at Pride festivals alongside Betty Who, Billy Gilman, Troye Sivan, and Melissa Ferrick, or touring her one-woman show beatboxing and looping in front of a live audience, Ford is an independent artist through and through. Among her many gigs, she had played background roles on CMT's "Nashville" and has been a featured speaker at CDBaby's annual DIY Conference. Last year, Ford crowdfunded over $20,000 for "War in the Living Room" a forthcoming record co-produced by June Millington (of Fanny) and Brett Bullion (Now, Now, Bad Bad Hats, Lizzo).
